about

This is a first for me, a Christmas song.
Prompted by a monthly challenge on a Facebook group (Talent is Timeless UK) for songwriters aged 50 and over, this year, I decided to give it a go.

Those who know me well will be surprised at this, but not too surprised when they hear it's not a party tune but more of a thoughtful, reflective piece about those who don't have the opportunity (for whatever reason) to enjoy the seasonal festivities.

In light of this, I am releasing the song in digital format, and the proceeds will be split into two and donated to two local charities, those being Pantside Foodbank and HTC an organistion based in Pontllanfraith who do work with the homeless in Newport

Please give to help those less fortunate, as after all, Christmas is a time for giving

If you would like to share this post on your social media accounts to spread the word myself, Pantside Foodbank and HTC will be forever grateful.

lyrics

Back in the day so the stories say
A child was born to save
Bringing hope to a changing world
And peace along the way
A shining light for us all to see
Amidst the dark and grey
Two thousand years passed all we say is
That nothing's changed today

We live in hope for a better place
A happy life for all
But we don't think about it every day as
So many people fall
Through the cracks in society
They need our help today
But we close our eyes to what we see
Even on Christmas day

So as you sit around your Christmas tree
With your glass of beer
Remember those less fortunate
That have no Christmas cheer

Peace on earth and goodwill to men
The herald angels sing
Time to put away your thoughts of hate
And let the light shine in
Love to all your fellow man
And hope on which to cling
Sing Happy Christmas everyone and
Let the church bells ring

So as you sit around your Christmas tree
With your glass of beer
Remember those less fortunate
That have no Christmas cheer
